Sitting on 3 acres in western Midlothian, Classic Granite & Marble’s showroom, warehouse and fabrication facility cover a monstrous 35,000 square feet. In fact, the showroom with its 40 foot tall ceilings, 5 designer kitchens, 3 designer bath and vanity vignettes, and ‘to die for’ outdoor kitchen vignette is something quite unusual in the granite industry in Virginia. It is simply unheard of to have a slab warehouse with huge glass windows that flood the space with natural light, and a fabrication facility with not only one but two laser-guided stone cutting robots. There is nothing that compares to the combination of showroom, warehouse and state-of-the-art fabrication space in the region. In fact, there may only be a few this large and elaborate on the entire East Coast. So why would Midlothian-based owner Tony Kilic go through all this expense and trouble to build and maintain such a vast facility? We sat down with Tony to find out why, and ask more about his vision for Classic Granite & Marble:
Why did you build a 4500 square foot showroom?
Tony: ‘The main reason is because Classic is all about the customer service experience. We want to give people the opportunity to see and visualize how beautiful their homes can be through showing different real-life options. We find it is a personal approach and makes people feel at home. We know your home is your center of family and down-time, so we want people to experience our space that way–easy going and no pressure. What’s fun is that the showroom is always changing and evolving with new ideas my design staff and I have to display the latest ideas in kitchen and bath design. People really seem to appreciate the effort.”
Why the large warehouse with over 4500 slabs of granite, marble, and quartz in stock?
Tony: “I listened to my customers and over the years heard countless times that they would love to see the real slab of the stone they were buying. They said it was difficult for them to visualize how an entire kitchen or bath would look with only small samples. I completely understand this and want our customers to have a huge variety of choices to help make their homes completely unique.”
What is your vision for CGM’s growth in 2016?
“I am very proud of our great team and their focus on truly providing customers with an outstanding service experience every time. We know we have ‘WOW factor’, and we define Classic with integrity, great workmanship, honesty. Meeting and exceeding the high expectations of our clients is our full-time mission. We are expanding our fabrication facility to provide faster, more efficient service, and in 2016 we are hiring more customer service representatives, as well. Again, it all comes down to our good clients…and working to make them happy one at a time. That will never change.”
